The Power of Positive Affirmations

The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, meaning “to make steady, strengthen.” An affirmation is essentially a statement said with confidence about a perceived truth, designed to strengthen and program the mind into positive thinking. Affirmations help us to believe in the potential of an action or thought we desire to manifest. Much like exercise, they raise the level of feel-good hormones and push our brains to form new clusters of “positive thought” neurons. Positive affirmations truly do help to change the brain’s natural way of thinking, and can overcome the voice in the back of your head that is negative, uninspiring, cynical and dismissive of your future achievements.

No words are empty words, as every syllable we speak engages energy towards or against us. If you constantly say “I can’t,” the energy of your words will repel the universal force against you. But if you say “I can” the universe will give you the abilities to do just that.

Positive affirmations can guide you in life, give you direction, a sense of purpose and a belief in self. Read these affirmations, speak them aloud, write them down, and remind yourself of your worth whenever you start to feel low, or the day becomes stressful. These affirmations will guide you through the day, no matter what life throws at you.

For when you are feeling rundown and empty:

Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy

For when you are in need of motivation to quit a habit:

Today, I abandon my old habits and take up new, more positive ones

For when you are feeling uninspired:

Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas

For when present situations seem tough and debilitating:

Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good

For when you cannot let go of the past:

I am at peace with all that has happened, is happening, and will happen.
