Mindfulness Study: Meditation Training Can Lower Stress Levels

A recent study conducted by Georgetown University in the U.S. has found that mindfulness meditation training can lower stress levels, and help combat anxiety. The rigorously monitored clinical trial found that anxiety disorder patients had sharply reduced stress-hormone and inflammatory responses to a stressful situation after taking a mindfulness meditation course, while patients who took a non-meditation stress management course had worsened responses.

The study backs up our belief that mediation is an incredibly powerful tool that can be used in times of challenging and stressful situations. Whether it be a personal, financial or relationship crisis that you’re experiencing, mediation allows your mind to switch off from stress, and gives you the chance to effectively evaluate the situation without allowing your emotions to take over.

The findings from this study help strengthen the case that meditation can improve resilience to stress, and once you know how to meditate, you’ll have a tool you can use for life. Everyday stresses will no longer seem like large hurdles to overcome, and you’ll be more equipped to deal with anxiety-inducing and highly stressful events such as illness, death, job loss and relationship break-ups.
